Journaling

When you search up how to take care of your mental health or the best ways to do self-care journaling will always come up on the list. Always. Whether it’s in the top ten or the top three it will show up.

Now throughout my life, I have tried to journal. I tried different ways and I either forgot because I have horrible memory or that I just got tired of it because it was boring and didn’t seem like it was doing anything for me.

Now I will say there are so many ways of journaling from what I have learned. Have I tried all of them… No, but there is a whole lot of ways that maybe I should do one day.

So about six-ish months ago I heard about a journal called the five-minute journal and it was really hyped up and honestly, I really wanted to try it out. So for my birthday, I was gifted the journal and I was actually excited to try it out and see what it’s like and this time I actually wanted to do it and get it finished.

The first couple of the pages in the journal is talking about mental health and how to fill it out and honestly, it helped when I first started since I was always horrible at it. Then it did this thing and it said if you don’t finish the journal you have to do something you hate like donating money to a company you hate. I wrote Marineland it’s a place that all the water animals and they treat them like total crap.  Once you read through the pages and write all the things you finally make it to the journal.

Now a basic page is filled with two parts. One half you write in the morning and the other half before you go to bed. In the morning there is a quote or a weekly challenge like go for a walk or eat a vegetarian meal and then you have three lines to fill what you’re grateful for and then another three lines of what would make today great. Like to read a chapter or to go out and have a nice meal. Then you move on to the I am affirmations that you write. That’s it for the morning it seems like a lot but only takes five minutes like the name five-minute journal.

The second half which is before bed has a bit less than the morning. The first three lines are well 3 amazing things that happened today. Like eating a nice meal or watching your fav movie or getting a goal finished and the last part of the journal is how you could have made the day better. As of right now I usually write to wake up earlier because my sleep schedule is crap. After all that you are done and again it seems like a lot but when you start filling it out it becomes easier.

I can safely say that this journal is the best for absolute beginners or people like me who are forgetful. This post is not an ad for the five-minute journal they don’t know who I am however it would be nice if they did but hey aha.

I think what is so nice about the journal is that it makes you take three good things out of a horrible day and at night when I had those horrible days I still had three things that were pretty good and the quotes in the journal are pretty good and I love reading them.

The overall about this journal is it’s worth the money. It’s worth taking the five-plus minutes out of your day and it makes you see that there’s still good in bad days.

But I won’t lie and say the biggest con to the journal is that the journal is only for 6 months which so if you write every day for six months in the journal you’re done and you have to buy another one which means you spending about fifty bucks a year which is ok but at the same time kinda sucks.

My overall review of the journal

So besides the cons and me repeating the same thing at the end of the day. After six months and finishing the journal, I can say that it’s worth every penny. It truly is for beginners or even for people who have been doing it for years and want to try something new.

Ps finding it on amazon or at a book store can be cheaper than on the website 🙂
